Starpeak, the parent brand of SportsCover Direct, was pleased to sponsor this year’s Victor Berlemont Trophy, one of the UK’s most established road cycling events.
This year’s race saw riders take on 110 miles of relentless racing testing the endurance, strategy, and determination of the peloton. Organised by a member of Hounslow & Whitton Cycling Club (HWCC), the race continues to honour its rich tradition while showcasing the next generation of British cycling talent.
As part of our sponsorship, SportsCover Direct provided prizes for the first rider across the line at key points in the race. ‘It was fantastic to see our company flags flying proudly at the finish line, cheering riders on as they pushed through the pain barriers in pursuit of victory’ comments Julian Hucks, Founder and Managing Director.
The race concluded with a career-defining win for Danylo Riwnyj (pictured below shaking hands with Julian Hucks, our Founder and Managing Director), who took victory in the sprint after a demanding day of racing. His win underlined exactly why the Victor Berlemont remains such a special fixture on the UK cycling calendar – a blend of tradition, grit, and breakthrough performances. Adding to the excitement, the race also had a personal connection for us. Ollie Hucks (pictured below in cycling gear), a family member of our company director, delivered a superb ride to finish 7th overall in a field stacked with talent. Seeing him dig deep and perform so strongly brought an extra sense of pride to our sponsorship involvement.
For SportsCover Direct, sponsorship is about more than just having our name at the finish line. As a provider of sports and sports travel insurance, we understand the commitment, preparation, and risks that come with competing – whether that’s at grassroots level or in elite races like the Victor Berlemont.
Supporting events such as this allows us to give back to the cycling community, celebrate the achievements of riders, and play a part in helping the sport continue to thrive for the future.
We’d like to congratulate all the riders who took part, applaud the organisers for another superb edition, and celebrate the spirit of cycling that makes events like this so memorable.
